We’re goin back, back, back, back 2 school!

I wonder why we don’t reset the calendar to reflect the school year. It’s nearly Sept. But doesn’t it just feel like the first of the year — even after you are out of school 4+ years? For me, it certainly feels like a time to renew my focus. Sue and I were discussing this feeling of “back-to-school” mode over dinner. And so here i am unable to sleep (NFNS FINALE & too much coffee!) so i’m making all sorts of resolutions.

GOALS

  1. Laundry on a semi regular basis. Truly old habits die hard and I have yet to get the laundry sitch in a respectable order. I have clothes that I need to give back to people but can’t b/c i haven’t done my laundry. Usually by the time i’m motivated I’ve spent all my $$ (on whiskey and beer! sing it w/ me!)

  2. ride w/ dykes on bikes
  3. san fran pride (w/ Ricky)
  4. portland pride (w/ shawny b)
  5. cut my hair in a brand new way! // make over
  6. date more
  7. be more kind & humble
  8. be more honest
  9. set boundaries
  10. take a vacation
  11. nanwrimo

Ain’t Nuttin But a G Thang
i’m now noticing that all of my “goals” fall under a big caveat called money.

looks like my new list goes something like this…

  2. ride w/ dykes on bikes (still possible on charm alone)
  3. san fran pride (w/ Ricky) BUDGET
  4. portland pride (w/ shawny b) BUDGET
  5. cut my hair in a brand new way! // make over BUDGET

Apt. Hunting has now turned into Apt. Therapy

Funny the language we use w/ apartments – we “hunt” to find them but use “therapy” to decorate them. the hours and dollars in development on our little chunk of madhattan was really excellent this weekend! Sue was a dear dear love and drove us all around the u.e.s. We hit up some crazy sales at the rainbow / rickle that is closing its dusty doors :) Mainly necessities like curtain rods and bathroom tile cleaner howevs sue did stumble upon a fantastic little find the umbra magazine rack! It was super cheap since the store is closing and it looks kind of awesome – except when me and itzel in our infinite wisdom attached the thing to the wall (read: used power tools and laughed at our unhandi-ness) without measuring how far it was from the heating pipe that runs through my room. So now i can use roughly 2/3′s of the rack assuming that i only put chap books on one side :( AND i can’t take it down b/c we put about 7 holes in the wall! there’s still plenty of things to buy and do – we’ve basically employed poor jay to be our mr. fix it (he’s supposed to hang our pot rack – which after the magazine debacle i can only hope goes better than ours!) — he’s moved us in pretty much single handedly though itzel will tell you otherwise –

itzel: I helped too!
jay: did you carry that table on your back all the way from brooklyn? no i don’t think so
itzel: oh pleaseeeeeeeeeee

Besides getting things we need we have also started a pretty huge list of things we want!
1) A combination of this and this for our apt. I have about 40 fake votives sitting in my room that we could use as well!

2) A way to hang our TV and media equipment b/c having our TV and computers on the kitchen table is just a little bit too R.I.T. for us.

3) a mini mural of these Polaroid mirrors – thought I’m not sure where yet – our wall space is a premium! Plus i’m not sure if this is even the cheapest place to buy them.
